Eight DigitAx models cover the power rating range. There are two styles and three case sizes that depend on the model’s power rating. Size 1 and 2 cases have IP20 protection; size 3 has IP00 protection. The model in size 1 case is cooled by natural convection. Models in sizes 2 and 3 are fan cooled.
The AC power is rectified and smoothed to apply a constant voltage to a DC bus. This DC bus feeds a pulse-width modulated IGBT power stage that delivers variable frequency and voltage AC power to the motor. Depending on the model, an external DC choke is required for the DC bus. To improve the drive’s braking capabilities, all but the two largest models have an internal brake resistor, and all models can be used with an external brake resistor. When recommended wiring techniques are used, the drive maintains EMC compatibility
The operation of the drive is controlled by programming a number of software parameters. These parameters have default values that allow the drive to operate without any initial programming. The drives are equipped with a keypad located on the front panel of the enclosure. The keypad is used for the following operations: To change parameter values To stop and start the drive To view the operating status of the drive An RS485 serial communication port allows the drive to be controlled remotely using a host PC or PLC.
