The mechanical installation must take into account the entry points of electrical cables and installing a starter if necessary.

The drive must be located in an area free from dust, corrosive vapors, gases and any other liquids.

Two alternative arrangements for mounting the drive are offered. Depends on position of the mounting brackets, these are:

1. Surface mounted on panel or in an enclosure

2. Through an opening in a panel so that the drive heat sink protrudes from the the back of the panel. This arrangement can be used to mount the drive through the rear panel of a case to allow free flow of air around the heat sink and to minimize the increase in temperature inside the enclosure. This can be beneficial if the the case is intended to house a certain number of disks. Each mounting bracket is mounted to the heatsink using two self-tapping screws.
