The UNIDRIVE SP is a standard inverter for the supply of asynchronous motors with or without encoder and self-synchronous motors (Brushless). By parameterization, the UNIDRIVE SP can therefore be configured in the following operating modes :

• Open Loop Flow Vector Control (OPEn LP)
Thanks to its calculation power, the drive controls separately the magnetizing current and the active current with a standard asynchronous motor. The rotor speed and position are calculated to control the torque and speed of the motor.
This mode of operation allows, without speed feedback, to obtain very high performances and is therefore suitable for the majority of applications. When this mode is not suitable for certain applications (several motors powered by a single drive, etc ...), a mode (U / F) can be used.

• Closed Loop Flow Vector Control (CL VECt)
Using this mode on a standard asynchronous motor provides better control of motor torque and speed over a wider speed range (including zero speed) with increased dynamic performance. The motor must be equipped with an incremental encoder, sincos, SSI, EnDat or a resolver to give the position and speed of the rotor.

• Servo (Brushless) (SErVO)

The use of this mode with a self-synchronous motor (motor with permanent magnets in the rotor) and equipped with an incremental encoder, SSI, SinCos, EnDat or a resolver allows very high dynamic performances.

• Regenerative mode operation (rEgEn)

The performances of the UNIDRIVE SP are perfectly compatible with use in the 4 quadrants of the torque-speed plane.

• Operation in "RFC" mode (Rotor Flux Control)

This mode allows near loop closed loop vector mode performance without the need for a speed sensor. The drive uses currents, voltages and motor parameters to estimate the flow amplitude and the motor speed.
The "RFC" mode does not generate instability, unlike the open loop vector mode (eg high power motor used at low frequencies with low load).
