Nidec's activity is divided in 2011 into five divisions:

Small Precision Motors (46.7%): manufacture of small electric motors, used in particular in hard disks; DC brushless motors for DVD players, printers, scanners; DC fans for computers, game consoles, microprocessors, servers

Electronic and Optical Components (17.1%): optical shutters and lenses for mobile phones and digital cameras, actuators, etc.

Others (5.0%): manufacture of hard drive spindles, automotive control valves, etc.

Nidec is one of the world's leading manufacturers of electric motors and associated components or equipment. The main activity is the manufacture of electric motors for the rotation of hard disks (28.5% of total activity in 2011), where Nidec is the world leader.
