PNOZmulti configurable control systems

• PNOZmulti configurable control system

The PNOZmulti configurable control system fills the gaps between classic safety logic blocks and programmable control systems. Multifunctional, freely configurable and tailor-made, the PNOZmulti control system is used in many sectors of machine construction.

• PNOZmulti Mini configurable safety logic blocks

PNOZmulti Mini has the operating characteristics of the classic PNOZmulti. The compact architecture of only 45 mm width and the user-friendly on-screen diagnostics are new features.

Modular architecture

• The configurable PNOZmulti / PNOZmulti Mini control systems consist of a basic device and various expansion modules. To determine which expansion modules can be connected, the model of the basic device must be taken into account (see chapter “Architecture”). • The basic device has several inputs and outputs and functions correctly even without an expansion module. • Expansion modules complement the basic device by providing additional inputs or outputs.

Configuration in the PNOZmulti Configurator

• The function of the control system is determined by the PNOZmulti Configurator.

• The PNOZmulti Configurator is a graphical tool for defining device functions. Using predefined symbols, this tool allows you to represent, using a simple connection diagram, the wiring of device inputs and outputs. This connection diagram is then transferred to the base device.

From this data, the base device recognizes which safety functions it must perform. Safety functions, such as emergency stop, two-hand control monitoring or movable guard monitoring are available. If the wiring is carried out correctly, it is possible to achieve safety categories up to PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL CL 3 according to EN IEC 62061.

• Modularity and configuration guarantee maximum flexibility. It is possible to expand the security system and change the security functions at any time.

Starters

• Devices of the configurable PNOZmulti control system have static inputs for safety and standard applications. • Inputs for standard applications can also be activated via the integrated interface or via fieldbus modules (example: PROFIBUSDP, CANopen, etc.).

• Decentralized input modules provide safety inputs for use up to IP67.

• It is possible to connect analog input modules which provide safety analog inputs to the PNOZmulti basic devices (not PNOZmulti Mini). The input signals are transformed into digital signals. For standard applications, the exact analog values are made available to the base device for transfer to a fieldbus.

Exits

• The devices of the PNOZmulti configurable control system have both solid-state safety outputs and safety relay outputs (depending on the device, see chapter “Architecture”).

• Semiconductor technology is used for outputs intended for standard functions.

• Solid state safety outputs require low maintenance and are wear resistant. Therefore, they are even suitable for applications with high switching frequencies or cyclic functions. They can be used with 24 V DC applications.

• For PNOZmulti Mini basic devices, it is also possible to configure static safety outputs with extended error detection. These single channel solid state outputs can be used to achieve a higher level of security.

• Safety relay outputs are suitable for less frequent switching, having higher switching power, and can be used with AC applications.

• Outputs for standard applications can also be analyzed via the integrated interface or via fieldbus modules (example: PROFIBUS DP, CANopen, etc.)
