SIMOREG DC MASTER drives of the 6RA70 series are fully digital compact devices, with three-phase input, intended for supplying the armature and excitation circuits of DC motors with rated armature currents from 15 A to 2200 A. Parallel connection of compact drives makes it possible to obtain currents of up to 12000 A. The excitation circuit can be supplied with a current of up to 85 A (scaling depending on the rated armature current).

Constitution

The SIMOREG DC MASTER drives of the 6RA70 series are distinguished by their extreme compactness. Combined with modularity, this compactness guarantees excellent maintainability due to the good accessibility of the components. The electronic box contains the basic electronics as well as any additional boards. All SIMOREG DC MASTER drives are equipped with a PMU control panel located in the door. The PMU has a five-digit 7-segment display, three LEDs for status indication and three buttons for parameterization. It also carries the X300 connector of the USS interface to the RS232 or RS485 standard. All adaptations as well as settings and measurement displays required for commissioning can be carried out on the PMU. The optional operator panel OP1S can be mounted either in the drive door or remotely, for example at the level of the cabinet door. The OP1S can be connected with a five meter cable. By providing a separate 5 V power supply, a cable length of up to 200 meters can be achieved. The link between OP1S and SIMOREG is established by the X300 connector. Using the OP1S is a cost-effective alternative to cabinet-mounted instruments for indicating physical measured quantities. The OP1S has a 4-line x 16-character LCD display providing a clear display of the parameter designations, with the option of choosing between German, English, French, Spanish and Italian. The OP1S can store parameter sets, allowing easy parameterization of a series of drives by downloading. The drive can also be parameterized via the serial interface of the basic drive, from a normal PC with the appropriate software. This PC interface is used for commissioning, standstill maintenance and diagnostics during operation and therefore functions as a service interface. It is also via this interface that the drive software can be loaded and stored in flash memory. In the case of single-quadrant drives, the armature is supplied by a three-phase all-thyristor bridge B6C, and in the case of 4-quadrant drives, by two three-phase all-thyristor bridges in antiparallel assembly without circulating current (B6) A(B6)C. The excitation circuit is powered by a B2HZ two-pulse mixed single-phase bridge. The mains voltage frequencies for the armature and the excitation can be different (between 45 and 65 Hz). Operation in the extended frequency range from 23 Hz to 110 Hz is possible on request. The order of the phases of the armature supply circuit is irrelevant. On drives with a rated direct current of 15 A to 850 A (1200 A for 400 V supply voltage), the power part of the armature and excitation circuits is made using electrically isolated thyristor modules: the heat sinks do not are therefore not brought to the potential. In drives with higher rated direct current, the power part for the armature circuit is made with disc-type thyristors on heatsinks (thyristor modules) brought to the potential. The housing and terminal covers provide protection against accidental contact when working near the drive. All terminals are accessible from the front. The cooling of the power part is monitored by temperature sensors

Functioning

All regulation, control and communication functions are provided by two powerful microprocessors. The control functions are implemented in the software in the form of program blocks interconnected by parameters. The rated continuous currents (continuous currents in continuous service) indicated on the nameplate of the drives for the load class Ι can be exceeded by 50%, the duration of the overload depending on the device in question. The current indicated on the nameplate for the load class ΙΙ can be exceeded by 50% for 60 s in a cycle of 300 s. The microprocessor proceeds cyclically to calculate the momentary I2t value of the power section so as to prevent overload operation from leading to degradation of the thyristors.
