The ALTIVAR 312 family of adjustable frequency drives is used for the control of three-phase asynchronous motors. Their power varies from:
• 0.37 to 2.2 kW (0.5 to 3 HP) 240 V, single phase input.
• 3 to 7.5 kW (5 to 10 HP) 230 V, three-phase input.
• 0.75 to 15 kW (1 to 20 HP) 460/480 V, three-phase input.
These guidelines cover the technical characteristics, specifications, installation and wiring of all ALTIVAR 31 variable speed drives.

The Altivar 31 is preset at the factory for the most common conditions of use:

- Display: drive ready (stopped), motor frequency (running).
- Network: 50 Hz.
- Motor voltage: 230 V or 400 V, depending on model.
- Ramps: 3 seconds.
- Low speed: 0 Hz
- High speed: 50 Hz.
- Loop frequency gain: standard.
- Motor thermal current = nominal drive current.
- Injection braking current at standstill = 0.7 x drive rated current, for 0.5 seconds.
- Constant torque operation, with vector control of flux without sensor.
- Automatic adaptation of the deceleration ramp in the event of brake overvoltage.
- 4 kHz switching frequency.
- Logic inputs: LI1, LI2: 2 direction of operation, 2-wire control. LI3, LI4: 4 preset speeds (0Hz, 10Hz, 15Hz, 50Hz).
- Analog inputs: AI1 (0 + 10 V): speed reference, AI2 (0 + 10 V) or AIC (0, 20 mA): summing of AI1.
- Relay R2: speed setpoint reached.
- Analog output AO (0 - 20 mA): motor frequency.

Since its creation, the Telemecanique brand has been pursuing an innovation policy, which has become one of the world’s first references in automatism management.

The story of Telemécanique is read through that of its inventions, initiated with the launch of the first contactor on bars. A patent filed the same year of its acquisition, in 1924! It will develop contactors D became world reference. The 1980s marked the acquisition of Telemechanics by Schneider Electric (1988).
