Servo converters from the POSI-DYN®SDS 4000 range are fully digital servo converters with sinusoidal commutation and intended for controlling ES Stöber motors. SDS converters are independent devices with their own power supply and built-in regulator circuit. These devices connect directly to the three-phase network, the voltage range being between 230V and 480V with a tolerance of ±10%. The interference filter (EN 55011 class A) of precision A ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility of the device is already integrated. The control part is powered by 24V external. Thus, the encoder signals or the field bus communication can also be retained after a power failure. The quality of the motor control meets the highest demands. The very precise analysis of the motor repetition (16-bit resolution on the resolver) allows, in correlation with other elements, to obtain an excellent concentricity precision. An integrated database containing all motor-relevant parameters guarantees perfect adaptation of Servo Inverters to Stöber ES motors. The user software of a POSIDYN®SDS 4000 Servo converter is for the most part identical to that of the Stöber frequency converters of the POSIDRIVE®FAS 4000 and FDS 4000 range. Thus, the duration of initiation to this software is reduced; moreover, this resemblance of the software constitutes, for a control with field bus, a notorious advantage for the programmer of the control.

Features:

•mains supply 3 x 230V -10% ... 480V+10%

•integrated electromagnetic compatibility filter (interference filter, class A)

•excellent dynamics with high overload capacity (2 x IN)

•plug-in power and control connectors

•high-resolution resolver analysis, aiming for perfect concentricity

•integrated interface for Multiturn absolute value encoder with Sin/Cos track

•analog inputs with 14-bit resolution

•integrated braking resistor

•possibility of direct motor braking control (24VDC)

•Built-in CAN bus

•UL approval (UL 508C and UL 840)

•identical handling (menu, groups of parameters, etc.) to the POSIDRIVE®FDS 4000 model

•access to the field bus compatible with the POSIDRIVE®FDS 4000 model

•data bank relating to ES Stöber motors (parameter B00)

•integrated positioning control with 32 strokes

• “round axis” function (without concentricity error)

•integrated electronic clutch (synchronization race of angular position and speed); reduction ratio expressible as a quotient without rounding error

•integrated technological software (proportional regulator, winder, etc.)

The POSIDYN®SDS 4000 servo converter has a status and fault display with only 3 lines as standard. Programming is carried out either via the FDS-Tool program running under Windows or via the external control device called "Controlbox". The Controlbox command works with the well-known Stöber menu system and additionally offers some extended functions. The Controlbox can e.g. act as a mobile data memory for up to 7 servo converters. When supplied with a machine, the Control-box is therefore a valuable aid in the event of a device exchange. The Controlbox is also available in a portable box and in a DIN recessed version with dimensions of 96 x 96 mm

In 1934, Paul (*1908, †1983) and Wilhelm Stöber (*1904, †1992) founded a mechanical workshop. Driven by the desire to put their own ideas into practice and optimize things they considered imperfect. This spirit still characterizes the company today.

In 1943, STOBER launched the STOBER variable speed drive developed in-house, and thus revolutionized manufacturing companies.

In 1982, the management of the company passed into the hands of the second generation represented by Siegfried Thiel (*1936, †1990), Ursula Thiel (*1937, †1997) and Bernd Stöber (*1944).

In his role as Technical Director, Bernd Stöber recognized early on the growing importance of electrical speed control for drive technology. For the first time, STOBER distributed frequency converters, servo drives and the corresponding software. The corresponding MGS geared motor system impressed with its modularity and unsurpassed quality.

In 1993, STOBER was the first supplier in the world to successfully connect high-precision planetary gearboxes directly to dynamic synchronous brushless motors.
