Using the OP3
The SIMATIC HMI OP3 device is used to visualize operating states and current process values of a SIMATIC S7 controller to which it is coupled. The OP3 also allows inputs to be made which are written to the PLC. It is also possible to execute functions for machine diagnostics on the OP3. The OP3 is suitable for installation in cabinets and consoles as well as for use as a portable device.
Constitution of the OP3
The upper side of the OP3 has a keyboard and a display. On the right side are the connector for • the power supply (24 V), • the MPI connector and • the RS232 connector.
Configuration with ProTool
The configuration of the OP3 is created on a computer (PC/PG) equipped with the ProTool configuration software. When the configuration is complete, it is transferred to the OP3. During operation, the OP3 communicates with the PLC to which it is coupled and reacts to the execution of the PLC program according to the configured data.
