This coupler allows connection to the MAPWAY network of any machine equipped with an AT PC bus (ISA) and operating on a DOS operating system version equal to or greater than V3.0. It fits inside the microcomputer, in one of the available slots.
It also allows the connection of MONITOR 77 supervision stations
V2.030 to ISA bus and FTX T507.3 workstations.

The generalization of distributed automation architectures brings growth
communication needs as well as
number of connection points as the volume of data exchanged.
In order to reduce the cost of this communication, the solutions specific to each
application or to each manufacturer must gradually make room for
standardized solutions, the only ones with a future.
MAPWAY, ensuring compatibility with the MAP standard and with the park
Existing TSX 7 (particularly with TELWAY 7), is the Telemecanique answer to
this necessary evolution.

The first standardization work on Manufacturing Automation Protocol (MAP)
asked all connected equipment to support the architecture
interconnection of open systems (the 7 layers of the OSI model). If this
architecture is perfectly justified to perform file transfers between
calculators or workshop supervisors, or to perform loadings of
program or recipes in PLCs, commands
machine tools or robots, it has proven to be poorly adapted to
"real-time" communications between automation controllers.
As a result, the standard provides for a reduced communication architecture
three layers that simultaneously minimizes the volume of the software, the times of
answer and the cost of connection. This reduced architecture is called Mini-MAP.
Another cost-saving factor was to retain for the Mini-MAP network
a bandwidth technology instead of broadband technology
recommended for the complete seven-layer MAP architecture.
The standard also provides for an architecture called MAP EPA (Enhanced
Performance Architecture) with a dual architecture: complete MAP and
Mini-MAP.
For its MAPWAY network, Telemecanique, concerned above all with performance
communication between its automation components, has retained
the Mini-MAP architecture proposed by the standard.
MAPWAY is therefore a 5Mbps coaxial cable token bus
75 ohms directly accessed by Telemecanique application services (COM
and UNI-TE)

Since its creation, the Telemecanique brand has been pursuing an innovation policy, which has become one of the world’s first references in automatism management.

The story of Telemécanique is read through that of its inventions, initiated with the launch of the first contactor on bars. A patent filed the same year of its acquisition, in 1924! It will develop contactors D became world reference. The 1980s marked the acquisition of Telemechanics by Schneider Electric (1988).
