AX8000 | Power modules

A power supply module generates the DC-Link (DC) voltage for supplying the axis modules and option modules from the mains voltage. It already contains a mains fi lter, for which the drive is tested and certifi ed in accordance with standard EN 61800-3 for use in category C3. Any regenerative energy produced, e.g. by powerful braking of the motors, can be converted into heat either via the internal braking resistor or via the combination of an integrated braking chopper and an external braking resistor. Alternatively, energy can be stored in the AX8910 capacitor module. AX8000 power supply modules can be used on single-phase and three-phase low-voltage networks. – Single-phase networks 100…230 V AC, 50/60 Hz – Three-phase networks 3 x 200…3 x 480 V AC, 50/60 Hz A separate 24 V DC power supply is required in each case.

AX8000 | Axis-modules

An axis module contains the DC-Link and the inverter for the motor supply. Depending on the number of axes required, the axis modules are attached to the power module to form the multi-axis servo system. Axis modules with different ratings can be combined to allow optimized design of individual axes. The electrical connection is set up without tools via the already integrated AX-Bridge: it automatically connects DC-Link, 24 V DC control voltage and communication via EtherCAT between the connected modules. The DC-Link connection allows the exchange of energy during acceleration and braking procedures, where the regenerative braking energy is mainly stored in the common DC-Link. If the energy exceeds the DC-Link capacity, it can be destroyed via a braking resistor of the power supply module.

AX8000 | Multi-axis servo system

The AX8000 multi-axis servo system greatly simplifies the implementation of multi-channel drive solutions. The required number of 1 or 2 channel axis modules are attached to the central power module. Modules are connected without screws or tools using the integrated AX-Bridge quick-bridge connection system based on spring-loaded terminals. The 1-axis and the 2-axis modules can optionally be equipped with TwinSAFE for safe driving technology.

eXtreme Fast Control in player

The AX8000 multi-axis EtherCAT-based servo system combines powerful FPGA technology with multi-core ARM processors. A TwinCAT 3 runtime is already integrated, which allows programming in C++, IEC 61131 and MATLAB®/Simulink®. The new multi-channel current control technology enables extremely short sampling and response times. The completely hardware-implemented current regulator combines the advantages of analog and digital control technology: reaction to a current a deviation from the setpoint is possible in 1 µs; the cycle time of the speed regulator is approximately 16 µs at a switching frequency of 32 kHz. The processing of the EtherCAT process data (actual values ​​and setpoints) are transmitted without a processor almost without delay in the hardware, so that the minimum EtherCAT cycle time is only 62.5 µs. This technology is the basis for further product developments in the field of drive technology.

Single Cable Technology (OCT)

The AX8000 multi-axis servo system supports OCT, Beckhoff's One Cable Technology for Power and Feedback. In connection with the servomotors of the AM8000 (standard), AM8500 (increased inertia), AM8800 (stainless steel) and AM8100 (compact drive technology) series, the wiring is reduced to the standard motor cable, via which the feedback signals are also transmitted. As in sensorless control, the user no longer needs to use an additional feedback cable. All information necessary for control purposes is transmitted reliably and insensitive to interference via an interface.
